Biblical Contradiction Explained: God does or does not rest:
God does rest:
By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
Genesis 2:2
It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and was refreshed.”
Exodus 31:17
God does not rest:
Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth
Does not become weary or tired.
His understanding is inscrutable.Isaiah 40:28
Explanation:
This one is an easy one to explain. The problem for most people is a misunderstanding of why God rested. God did not rest because he was tired, nor did he need rest. God is a God of example. He rested on the 7th day to serve as an example to man that after 6 days of labor they must take one day of rest.
A parallel can be found with Christ. There are many things Christ did that were not necessary or seemingly pointless. For example: Christ’s 40 days in the wilderness where he was “tempted” to sin. Of course, if Christ is God, then he is incapable of sin; making his 40 days in the wilderness pointless affair.
However, Christ’s 40 days in the wilderness serves as an example for man to turn away from temptation. Just as Christ through his life served as an example for man, God the Father also conducts himself as to serve as an example to man.
